 I was so excited last night I had finally found several citations for newspaper obituaries/mortuary notices for a Great Great-Grandfather.  I had been looking for the obituary off and on for years (the surname was misspelled).  I hurriedly went to genealogybank.com to see if an image of the obituary could be found, ahhh got it … but…

The Civil War Sesquicentennial Anniversary… How do I really feel

As we commemorate the Sesquicentennial anniversary of the shots fired which they say started the Civil War, have they forgotten that the seeds were planted in Kansas months before that first shot was fired on April 12, 1862… 

 

Oh, that dreadful day 150 years ago got me sitting here thinking about the shackles that brought us to that day.  Some say it was because of economics and other such nonsense but the state of my birth Louisiana let it be known for them it was about…
